HOW DOES EFT TAPPING WORK FOR LIMITING BELIEFS?

EFT Tapping is a mind-body tool that helps you let go of what holds you back.

Also known as Emotional Freedom Techniques, EFT is an evidence-based stress reduction tool which deactivates the flight/flight/freeze response in your brain and nervous system.

Your negative thought patterns and habits may not be your fault.

Cellular biologist and author Dr. Bruce Lipton tells us that approximately 95-99% of our actions are driven by beliefs that were hard-wired into our subconscious before the age of six.

This means that only 1-5% of what we say, do or feel is under the control of our conscious minds.

Which makes breaking habitual thought patterns and behaviours c h a l l e n g i n g.

Unless… We use tools that help access and rewire the subconscious beliefs and associated stress.

How does EFT Tapping work to decrease stress and rewire old learnings?

During EFT Tapping, we combine the following elements to access & shift your unconscious beliefs:

  • outline of magnifying glass

Exposure therapy as we focus on a specific event, thought, or body sensation.

  • outline of a person thinking with a thought bubble

Cognitive therapy as we focus on how you feel about the event/thought/body sensation now.

  • outline of a hand tapping with index finger

Somatic therapy as we tap on specific acupressure points on the head and upper torso to calm your brain and nervous system.

Clinical studies show that EFT Tapping affects the amygdala (the brain's stress centre) and hippocampus (the brain’s memory centre) which can change the way we think, feel and behave.

    1. Think of something that is bothering you and rate the distress/uncomfortable emotion/sensation on a scale of zero to 10, with 10 being extremely strong (i.e., sadness)

    2. Now, we capture the emotion/sensation in a statement which you will say out loud three times whilst using two or three fingers to tap on the side of the hand: “Even though I feel this sadness…”. We complete the statement with an acceptance such as: “I accept this is where I am at right now.”

    3. Next, we will tap on each of the acupressure points on the face and upper torso as shown in the diagram, repeating the reminder phrase on each point “this sadness”. We will tap on each accupressure point for two rounds.

    4. This is a complete round. We now take a moment and check in on how intense this feeling of sadness is now, measuring it again from 0-10.  We continue to work on the emotion until we reach the level of 0-2.  It is often the case that new emotions surface once one emotion is reduced.  In this case, we repeat the process with this new emotion.

We will be using your words throughout the session, which is where the power of EFT lies. After a few rounds of EFT, as stress decreases, most people find that they start to feel more clear and calm about their issue.
